Dr. William Smith’s Bible Dictionary was released under multiple names at different times. “Smith’s Dictionary of the Bible” was released in 4 volumes. “A Dictionary of the Bible” was released in 3 volumes, volume 1 being two parts. Later, abridged versions were released under the title “Smith’s Bible Dictionary” and that is likely what you have sitting on your shelf.
Here I will provide “A Dictionary of the Bible” in its sort-of 3 volume form (volume 1 being two parts is like the elevator button for floor 13 being labeled 14). Unfortunately, the scanning for this is of poor quality so I will also provide a text copy of the abridged version which is great for searching. I would recommend you download all of these and use the text copy primarily. If you can’t find an entry in the text copy, check the scans.
